JVC MEDIA NAMES PHATHEAD GROUP DIRECTOR OF COUNTRY MUSIC PROGRAMMING

Ronkonkoma, NY  – JVC Media, one of the leading independent, locally owned radio broadcasters in Long Island, New York and Gainesville, Ocala Florida, has tapped Long Island WJVC Program Director Phathead to oversee the entertainment groups Country music assets.  In his new position, Phathead will oversee WJVC-FM, Nassau/Suffolk, WTRS-FM 102.3 Ocala, 104.9, Gainesville, Florida and oversee the production of all Country based NTR events.
Phathead brings with him over 15 years of experience in radio broadcasting and live events.  He was instrumental in launching WJVC-FM 96.1 My Country, the first FM Country radio station in the Nassau Suffolk market in recent history.  Ironically, Phathead got his start in radio with Vic “Latino” Canalas”, the VP and COO of JVC Media.  “ I remember when Phathead was the cool guy on the radio when we launched Party 105 on Long Island in 1998, now he is the cool guy in the Country world and he is one of the most dedicated programmers I have had the pleasure of working with”, said VP COO Vic Latino.
“Phathead, and after 15 years I still can’t get used to calling him that, is the main reason behind the success of our My Country brand and the driving force of our NTR programs, I am so excited and proud to have him oversee all of our country radio properties and events”, said John Caracciolo, President and CEO of JVC.
“To say that I am excited to take on this new task would be an understatement.  The people in and around Country music are like family to me and in three short years with WJVC we were able to develop new relationships and solid friendships and I am looking to take that same attitude and work ethic to the Gainesville, Ocala radio market”, said Phathead.
In his first official managerial move, Phathead has promoted long time WTRS radio morning man Dave Tyler to Program Director.
“I look forward to working with Dave and growing the My Country brand in North Central Florida, we can’t wait to get going”, added Phathead.
JVC Media has been in a rapid growth mode, recently expanding on Long Island with its entertainment and broadcast division adding jobs and staff and working hard to make radio local and community friendly once again.
